Drake has awarded award of C$10,000 to the winner of a lookalike contest that was held by Canada’s Casuals Cakery in Toronto on Saturday (December 14).
The organizers of the event had initially announced that the winner will get a bottle of Hennessy and a pack of cigars.
However, Drake sent a DM to Casuals Cakery on Instagram saying that he would be contributing “10 bands” to the contest “as the main prize.” Casuals Cakery responded to Drake, saying, “Just give me a min to stop hyperventilating this moment… I can’t believe this is ur account and u know about this omg i love you”.
The proprietor of Casuals wrote alongside a screenshot of the exchange, “I can barely type and a whole shock went through my body. But yes this is true and real & I hope the Drake doppelgängers ready. LETSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOO.”
A female fan, named Makayla Chambers, took home the grand prize after she showed up to the event with her hair in two pigtails — similar to Drake’s look from earlier this year — along with a fake goatee, an oversized beige sweater and black pants.
She beat out several other participants who dressed up as various versions of the five-time Grammy winner.
Drake did not attend the Toronto event but reposted several videos from the event on his Instagram Story, writing, “I love this city” with a series of laughing emojis.
