Parkways were shutdown in Philadelphia as thousands of Eagles fans made their way back home following the conclusion of the team’s Super Bowl celebration parade.
Having watched Jalen Hurts and his teammates defeat the Kansas City Chiefs days earlier, fans lined the streets to congratulate their heroes upon their return from New Orleans. The Eagles avenged defeat in the 2023 edition of the Super Bowl as they earned the Vince Lombardi Trophy honors in style at Caesars Superdome.
The parade started at Broad Street, before heading to 15th Street, John F. Kennedy Boulevard, 16th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The spectacle ended at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, with fans and staff hailed by fans as they made their way around the city on a double-decker bus.
Eagles CEO and Chairman Jeffrey Lurie paid tribute to the fans who took to the streets as part of the celebration, saying: “Today, Valentine’s Day, is the perfect day to celebrate this, this love affair between this sports team and Eagles fans here and everywhere. We share an amazing bond that is second to none.”
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro spoke with civic pride after seeing thousands of spectators enjoying a memorable day in Philadelphia. He said: “Being an Eagles fan, I know how people love to hate us. You people love to hate us. They love to root against us, but something I noticed is that all of a sudden, people were coming together to cheer on our Philadelphia Eagles, not just here in Philly, but all across America.”
Following on from the festivities in the city, parkways were shutdown as thousands of fans made their way back home after packing the streets to cheer on the Super Bowl victor. In coverage on ABC, fans were shown queuing around the front of 30th Street Station as they waited to catch a train back home.

However, the parade was marred by the shooting of two women near the 2300 block of Ben Franklin Parkway. The women were later taken to Presbyterian Hospital, where they are confirmed to be in a stable condition.
A statement from the Philadelphia Police Department read: “Authorities are investigating a double shooting that occurred on the highway near the 2300 block of Ben Franklin Parkway at approximately 2:35 p.m. Two women sustained gunshot wounds outside the parade footprint.
“The victims have been identified as a 27-year-old Hispanic female, who suffered a gunshot wound to her left leg, and a 20-year-old Asian female, who was shot in the upper left thigh. Both victims were transported by medics to Presbyterian Hospital, where they are currently listed in stable condition.
“At this time, no crime scene has been located, and no weapon has been recovered. Police have not made any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department.”
