The Double Diamond Club return with new single Best Club Singer In South Wales ahead of an album to be released via Alcopop! Records.
Following on from their debut, the self-titled The Double Diamond Club, released on New Years Day, Best Club Singer In South Wales is an audacious tongue-in-cheek tribute to the golden age of the working men’s club circuit from an era when the neon lights shone the brightest, the sequins sparkled, and the voices carried across the valleys like hymns for the hopelessly devoted.
With Helen Love and John MOuse at the helm of Best Club Singer In South Wales dives deeper into the mythos of ‘the club’ celebrating (and skewering) the cut-throat world of stage supremacy. It’s a battle of vibrato and bravado, a tale of glory, rivalry, and inevitable decline.
As ever the creative partnership combining Love’s bubble-gum pop and MOuse’s rich Welsh tones remains as volatile as a forgotten pint balanced on the edge of a wobbly table. Insiders whisper of ongoing artistic clashes, tantrums and dressing room disputes over who gets the best mic stand…
I for one can’t wait for the album…
