Z-GR! Radio overview right from your Host:
Have fun with the list below, enjoy the artists/music and…
O.a.G. is a transatlantic electronic duo composed of Iwan Bedford (UK) and Wesley Reid (US) creating Synth-Pop/Retrowave/Dancepop music. They are big into joints with other artists, and for this track, they’ve chosen Future Analog, who also works with multiple collaborators. We’re opening things up this week with the Future Analog Remix of ‘Running’ right here on NEWHD Rock Evolution.

Rogue FX AKA Andrew Wood guested on Episode 16 and appeared again on Episode 23 – lots of great stuff coming out of his label FiloFX, and I’ll get to that in the weeks ahead, but I’ve been looking forward to playing ‘Nightcrawling’ for a while now. It’s a joint between RogueFX and Birmingham’s Hollywood Brown and it really sounds great.

Germany’s Berlin Banter is a project by Chris Kobusch and frankly, I’m surprised that I haven’t come across his work sooner. He’s big on collaborations and has worked with several noteables including Sneaker Pimps vocalist Simonne Jones and Z-GR! Radio artist Mark Reeder. Lots of great tracks to choose from, but I decided on his latest – this is ‘Clockwork Orange’ and you’re hearing it here on NEWHD Rock Evolution.
The Anitipop Movement is a project by Los Angeles native and LGBT artist OpheliaX and overall has a really great polished Pop sound – , ‘Yours Truly’ has been on my radar for the show for a while now – There’s a calm before the storm, but once it kicks in, Ophelia X makes a statement or several.
Copenhagen’s Bite The Bullet is one of my favorite new artists for show – this track, ‘I’ll be Fine’ caught my ear with some really cool, really creative sound design and it’s straight ahead 4 on the floor rock vibe. The more I hear it, the more I like it.
It’s really great to see the kids of the legendary members of the Beatles making modern music – I had Julian Lennon on a few weeks back and this time it’s James McCartney, son of Linda and Sir Paul. Like Julian, you can catch a bit of his father’s tone in his voice, but he still brings his own thing.
European Synth-Pop / Electronic Rock artist Magnetic Eyes have been at it since 2019 – they have a 2023 release, but I reached back to 2022 for ‘I Opened My Eyes’. I always like to hear rock tracks that lean into a foundation of analog synth sounds, and these guys do it really well.

Calagry’s Wants does a great job of bringing the creative synth sound – they self describe as dark ‘radioactive synth-pop and neon fallout’ – I don’t know about all that, but I do know that I dig their sound and especially ‘Fate and Fear’ off of their 2023 self-titled EP.
London’s Dare Summer’s ‘I Want One’ is one of my favorite of the latest round of songs to feature on Z-GR! Radio – the wordplay is fun and catchy and the track carries a groove that sticks with you. She’s got a bunch more cool tracks, so make sure you check her out.
I always see the Thompson Twins as an underappreciated 80’s act – they had several hits, an amazing appearance at Live Aid and several cool MTV videos, so I’m always surprised that more people don’t know them, but Mexico’s Alex Midi is trying to fix that by delivering an excellent cover of 1984’s ‘Doctor Doctor.

As Z-GR!’s vocalist, I have some insight on this track – I wrote the vocal as I was transitioning out of a long-term relationship, and realized that I had boxed up several things that I liked about myself to accommodate the relationship. The track is about self-realization within the context of a personal reboot, and making sure that you don’t go sideways during the process.
