Week 38 - January 31, 2025
EPISODE 38 of Z-GR! Radio
Z-GR! Radio overview right from your Host:
- My name is Scot Apathy – I’m the lead singer for Zero-G Racetrack, and I curate the ‘Floating Around the Racetrack’ Spotify/YouTube playlist. It’s not a pay for play list; I personally choose what’s on it based on what I hear. True story.
- For Z-GR! Radio, I pull from tracks/artists on the playlist (current and archived) and include newer finds that might not be on the list yet (but likely will be).
- The artists included come from myriad genres, geographical locations and stage of growth. I stay away from mainstream established artists, but I will play artists that I’ve followed as they grow. I love it when emerging artists gain traction, and I like to celebrate it.
- I include a cover song each week, and highly recommend checking out MetroVeteran’s (Ruel Smith) ‘Synthwave Covers’ Spotify playlist. There are 900+ great tracks on that list.
- I post a page like this each week to help you find out more about the artists you heard on this week’s show and to make it easy to do so.
- I’m working with NEWHD on a Featured Artist program, and I’ll note those artists as they appear.
Have fun with the list below, enjoy the artists/music and…

Z-GR! Radio Episode 38 Lineup
Octavian Winters / Mark Pistel - Velveteen (Mark Pistel Remix)
Octavian Winters closed out Episode 13 with the Mark Pistel mix of ‘Velveteen, but the song is amazing so it’s our opener this week – the band is from San Francisco – they’re a NEWHD feature artistand there is a link to the article covering this release at veteransclassicrock.com/zgr38 . The song has a ton of great energy, and you’re hearing it here on NEWHD Rock Evolution.

Caligula - Bloodlines
The Spotify algo has been insisting that I check out Sydney, Australia’s Caligula for months and I finally did and it was well worth the time – the band’s been around since the early 90’s and they’ve shared stages with the likes of Depeche Mode and Jesus Jones. They took a break for a bit before kicking things off again and 2024’s ‘Bloodlines’ is on the show.
Josie Pace - Cannibals
It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Detroit’s Josie Pace around here – she’s been rebuilding her team lately, is working with a new producer on new material which is very exciting – I had one of my favorite tracks of hers – 2019’s ‘Cannibals’ on Episode 22 and I decided that that we all need to hear it again.

Cara Francese - God Complex
Northern Virginia’s Cara Francese just released her album ‘Soulsucker’ a few weeks back and it’s really really good – this album has a great sound and a lot of depth which made picking just one track difficult – it’s worth spending time with every track, but I landed on ‘God Complex’ for the show.
Julian Lennon / Hadron Sounds - Save Me - Hadron Sounds Remix
Future Youth Records released 2023’s ‘Think Earth 23’, a compilation EP to benefits Julian Lennon’s White Feather Foundation, so it only makes sense that Julian would appear on the record – ‘Save Me’ was remixed by Dance-Pop DJ extraordinaire Hadron Sounds who famously features live trumpets in his sets. It’s a really cool track, for sure.

Ard Matthews - Justify It
Ard Matthews was the first South African artist to grace Z-GR! Radio back on Episode 14 – I had forgotten how much I liked this track – ‘Justify It’ is off of Ard’s excellent 2018 album ‘Impossible Machines’ and you’d do well for yourself to check the entire record out.
Disco Dicks - Lucifer
The Disco Dicks say that they have more punch than Mike Tyson’s left hand, more dirt than your local sex shop and maybe just as much style as your mom had back in the 80ies. Not sure about all of that, but they are a ton of fun, and I’ve had their track ‘Lucifer’ on radar for months now, and decided that now is the time to put the band in your ears.
Pink Nun - Quirky TIme
Annette Gil, Mattias Hellberg and Ole Tom Torjussen form Pink Nun, and released some very cool tracks in 2024. I had their first release, ‘Quirky Time’ on Episode 30 – I heard it again the other day and realized that EVERYONE needs to hear this track, so it’s on the show again.
Greedy Beat Syndicate - Get On Your Feet (And Dance)
I happened across a Greedy Beat Syndicate video and was instantly hooked on them. The Syndicate is a group of musicians, DJs and Remixers out of London and they make some of the best dance tracks I’ve come across and that’s saying something. It’s well worth stopping by their YouTube channel – if you haven’t heard them before, get your dancing shoes on, because this track, ‘Get On Your Feet and Dance’ is a seriously groovy jam.
